At a glance

Understand the M5’s electric and combined range figures, distinguish EV from EREV, and specify the right version in an export enquiry.

Which AITO M5 range figure are you looking at?

The manufacturer lists both battery-electric and range-extended New M5 Ultra versions. Its 255 km electric and 1,440 km combined CLTC figures refer to the range-extended rear-wheel-drive version; they are not two estimates for an EV. A combined figure uses both battery energy and fuel. Keep the powertrain and test cycle beside every number when making a shortlist.

EV versus EREV starts with your routine

For an EV, plan where you will charge overnight and on longer routes. For an EREV, consider the daily distance you expect to drive electrically as well as fuel stops on longer journeys. An EREV still needs charging if your aim is frequent electric driving. Decide from your own route and charging access rather than the largest advertised range.

Why CLTC is not a personal driving forecast

Temperature, road speed, heating or air conditioning, load and battery condition can change usable range. Do not apply a single percentage correction to promise an overseas driving distance. Ask for the exact version’s rated figures and, for a used vehicle, available battery-condition evidence. Keep battery-only and fuel-plus-battery comparisons separate.

Check the version behind the photograph

M5 advertisements can mix model years, rear-wheel drive, all-wheel drive and different software packages. A similar exterior does not identify the battery or equipment. Request the complete Chinese version name, model year, powertrain, drive layout and option list. Match the interior and charging-port photographs to the vehicle being offered, especially when choosing from used-car listings.

Confirm the charging and ownership plan

Record the connector and supported AC/DC charging arrangements for the proposed M5 and check them against your intended charging sites. Treat any adapter or conversion as a separate technical question requiring confirmation. Identify who can maintain the vehicle and obtain parts locally. China-market apps, languages, connected services and warranty coverage need separate verification for the destination.

What to put in an M5 sourcing request

Send your destination country and city or port, quantity, EV or EREV preference, drive layout, model year, colours and acceptable mileage. If still undecided, request two clearly identified versions with separate quotations. Ask each quotation to specify inspection evidence, included services, transport scope, currency and validity. This gives a useful basis for choosing an M5 without mistaking a website reference price for a delivered offer.
